Hi Ann L Mayo,
Our Flatpacks will seal airtight like our jars. Air, heat, and light are the enemies of fresh spices. A dark cabinet or drawer will do. The worst place to keep your spices is above the stove because heat from the oven will destroy essential oils in the spices.
Can the spices be left in the flatpacks, or do they need to be transferred to a bottle when we receive them? I am considering ordering some spices that I have not bought from you previously, so i do not have bottles for them, so I wondering about the stability of the spices in the flatpacks. I have thoroughly enjoyed the spices that I have used from your collection.
Thank you.
Ann Mayo
As a frequent flyer customer of yours I thought I’d comment about the flatpacks.
The ecologist in my thinks they are a marvelous idea. The less junk we throw away the better for the ecology in the long run. As a an avid outdoorsman I am all about what is good for the environment as I want to pass my love for the outdoors to the generations that follow me.
That said I’ve already been doing the whole reusable thing. When I started buying from you guys I bought a whole bunch of food service storage containers. Wish I could attach images to this post I would show you the before/after pictures going from lots of plastic bags to all labelled upright containers. This works especially well for me since I buy my spices 8 oz minimum at a time.
Now buying a pound of spice got me in “trouble” once. I didn’t realize how much volume one pound of mustard powder took up. :-)
Anyway, love you guys. I’ll be ordering again soon. I am moving from NJ to NC over the next week or so and am holding off on ordering until I get there.
